(PRESS RELEASE) CREWE, 22-May-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Bentley Motors Limited, hand building cars for over a century and the most sought-after luxury car brand in the world part of Volkswagen Group, is excited to join forces with Dezeen in unveiling a worldwide design competition that seeks to redefine ‘The Future of Luxury Retail’ across various sectors, both within and beyond the automotive realm, encompassing physical and digital formats.

The competition aims to inspire architects and designers to explore innovative ideas and create enriching experiences that drive the luxury retail industry forward in a sustainable manner.

Participants have the freedom to imagine any retail experience, whether in the real world, digital space, or a hybrid approach, within any luxury sector. This includes architecture, automotive, fashion, furniture, hospitality, interiors, real estate, specialty travel, wellness, or any other luxury product or service that Bentley may expand into in the future.

Steven De Ploey, Bentley’s Global Head of Marketing, said: “The automotive industry is undergoing a profound transformation. Car brands are electrifying their product lines en masse and rethinking the traditional car dealership model which has been the bedrock of automotive retail for generations.

“Other luxury industries are also facing unprecedented change – digital and physical worlds are blurred experimenting with pioneering new technologies – Web3, virtual reality and augmented reality. Bentley too is transforming and has committed to electrifying its entire vehicle line up by 2030 – the first luxury car marque to do so – at the same time we are venturing deeper into contemporary lifestyle sectors including interior design and furniture with Bentley Home. It’s an exciting time to be in luxury retail and Bentley is at the forefront of driving change – sustainably.”

This global competition is an integral part of Bentley Motors’ three-year partnership with Dezeen, previously announced earlier this year. Building on the success of the past five years, the Global Dezeen Awards, now sponsored by Bentley for 2023, 2024, and 2025, recognize the world’s most exceptional architecture, interiors, and design, as well as the studios, architects, and designers behind these remarkable works.

The principles of beauty, innovation, and sustainability align seamlessly with Bentley’s values. The brand’s exquisite craftsmanship, engineering expertise, and groundbreaking Beyond100 strategy, which embraces new technologies, materials, fuels, and skills, converge to create a progressive future. Bentley strives to achieve the highest levels of luxury mobility while embracing sustainable practices.

The competition will commence on May 22, 2023, and is open to all individuals aged 18 and above, with a total prize fund of £30,000 for the top three designs. An esteemed panel of judges, to be announced by Dezeen in the coming weeks, will evaluate the entries. The deadline for submission is July 7, 2023, and the winners will be announced in August 2023.
