(PRESS RELEASE) CREWE, 9-Nov-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Bentley Motors Limited, hand building cars for over a century and the most sought-after luxury car brand in the world part of Volkswagen Group, and Contest Yachts have collaboratively unveiled a bespoke Bentley yacht interior in the newly redesigned 20-meter Contest 67CS, a stunning blend of craftsmanship, excellence, luxury, and tradition.

The collaboration emerged after a private client’s visit to Bentley’s Crewe Factory, where they were inspired to commission Bentley to craft a one-of-a-kind yacht interior. Bentley’s accomplished design team, renowned for their work on interiors for the Continental GT and Bentayga, eagerly accepted the challenge. They set out to create a completely unique interior, drawing from the materials and techniques that define Bentley’s renowned automobiles.

This extraordinary partnership opens doors to fully matched Bentley automotive and yacht interiors, offering discerning owners the opportunity to experience the shared values and heritage of both brands in luxury performance and lifestyle.

Bentley worked closely with Contest Yachts’ design team to bring this exclusive interior to life. The creative process pushed the boundaries of craftsmanship, with innovative techniques such as 3D printing used to assess the feasibility of individual components. A meticulous mock-up of select items, including a sofa, was crafted to ensure precision and exacting quality standards were met.

Bentley’s iconic diamond quilted hides were carefully matched across the entire yacht interior. Even minute details like tissue boxes and drinks coasters were custom-created to suit the client’s preferences. Specialized techniques, such as hand cross-stitching typically reserved for Bentley steering wheels, were masterfully adapted throughout the interior.

The interior features Bentley Home furnishings, including the elegant Malvern Chair, paying homage to Bentley’s automobile geometries. Additionally, bespoke designs, such as a one-of-a-kind bar and vanity unit, were created exclusively for the new Contest yacht. Bentley’s craftsmanship extended to the Contest Yacht’s Captain’s chair and ‘Egg’ table, both meticulously trimmed in Bentley style. The handcrafted sofa, produced at Bentley’s engineering facility, received precision finishing in Bentley trim.

Arjen Conijn, CEO of Contest, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, saying, “We are delighted to be working with Bentley Motors, adding the option of fully matched Bentley auto and yacht interiors to our portfolio. Previously for an enthusiast of both Contest and Bentley brands we styled and fabricated a one-off example of our Contest 59CS. This new arrangement, though, takes our cooperation to quite another level, creating the option of an additional dedicated line of Bentley-featured Contest Yachts. We hold so many of the same beliefs and ambitions, it totally makes sense bringing our two fantastic ranges of prestigious luxury yachts and autos together.”

Dr. Matthias Rabe, Member of the Board for Engineering at Bentley Motors, commented, “Yacht interiors, like that of a car must be exact with precision detail. Whilst it was a challenge for our design teams to adapt their craft skills to an interior, providing a totally bespoke extension to our automotive interiors for the water we are delighted with the result. The finished article is a testament to the incredible talent and skill of our craftsmen and women who rose to the challenge and pushed the boundaries of what is possible. It has been a pleasure to work with the Contest Team – we share not only a renowned heritage in performance and luxury, but also the desire to continually innovate to provide cleaner, greener efficiencies in our work and production practices and output.”

This partnership not only celebrates the blending of automotive and yachting excellence but also underscores a commitment to innovation and sustainability in both production practices and output.
