(PRESS RELEASE) ROME, 1-Aug-2024 — /EuropaWire/ —  Enilive, Eni‘s subsidiary focused on mobility services and products, has entered into a significant partnership with Poste Italiane to supply biofuels for the postal service’s ground and air fleets. This collaboration aims to expedite Poste Italiane’s progress towards its 2030 energy transition and carbon neutrality targets. The agreement was formalized with the signing of a Letter of Intent by Giuseppe Lasco, General Manager of Poste Italiane, and Giuseppe Ricci, Energy Evolution Chief Operating Officer at Eni.

Under this agreement, Enilive will provide HVOlution, a renewable diesel produced from waste materials like used cooking oils, animal fats, and by-products from the agri-food industry, for road transport. HVOlution is available at over 1,000 Enilive service stations across Italy, and its distribution will be managed through the Multicard commercial card service. For air transport, Enilive will supply JET A1+Eni Biojet at selected national airports in Italy. This Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), made from 100% biological sources, can be blended up to 50% with conventional jet fuel.

“This collaboration with Enilive marks a new chapter in integrating ESG principles into our business strategy,” stated Giuseppe Lasco. “It allows us to power our extensive fleet with biofuels, reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and supporting our environmental policies to lower our carbon footprint and drive the green transition of the economy.”

Giuseppe Ricci commented, “This agreement initiates a collaboration between Enilive and Poste Italiane, two key entities committed to the decarbonization of road and air transport through the use of biofuels. The facilities and technologies developed by Enilive enable us to produce the necessary quantities of HVOlution and SAF to meet market demands and comply with regulations such as the EU’s ReFuelEU, which aims to increase SAF adoption to 70% by 2050.”

The agreement aligns with Italy’s energy transition goals and the environmental priorities of Poste Italiane’s strategic plan, which includes transitioning to a more sustainable vehicle fleet and achieving carbon neutrality by 2030, ahead of the 2050 targets set by European regulations.

Future binding agreements are anticipated to follow this initial collaboration, in accordance with applicable regulations, including those governing related party transactions.
