Empowering Frontline Teams with Vodafone & Airbus’s Secure Collaborative Network

(IN BRIEF) Vodafone Business and Airbus Public Safety and Security have launched a secure critical-communications service across Europe that links mobile users with control rooms via voice, messaging, video, and location services. Built on Vodafone’s MCX prioritisation and Airbus’s Agnet cloud platform, the solution enhances situational awareness and safety with features like 360° video sharing, group feeds, and an automated “lifeguard” fall-alert. Available in two SaaS variants—Collaborative Worker and Collaborative and Safe Worker—the service scales on demand and will be sold through Vodafone’s online marketplace from 2025. Supported by Vodafone’s mission-critical networks, low-Earth-orbit satellites, and expert advisory, the partnership aims to transform communications for utilities, transport, events, and public-safety organisations.

(PRESS RELEASE) BERKSHIRE, 16-Jun-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Vodafone Business and Airbus Public Safety and Security, a unit of Airbus Defence and Space, have forged a multi-year strategic partnership across Europe to deliver a pioneering, secure critical-communications service that seamlessly links mobile workforces with control rooms. By combining Vodafone’s expansive 4G/5G public and private networks with Airbus’s Agnet cloud-based platform, we are creating an integrated, mission-critical collaboration network that enhances productivity and safety for frontline teams across sectors such as energy, transportation, utilities, airports, and public safety.

Our joint solution supports voice calls, instant messaging, high-definition video streaming, and real-time location sharing, enabling field operatives to broadcast 360° incident footage or transmit vital data directly to control centers. Advanced “lifeguard” functionality automatically issues alerts if a user is detected to have fallen in a hazardous environment. Multiple users can communicate simultaneously in a single group feed, boosting situational awareness and speeding decision-making.

Showcased at Critical Communications World in Brussels, this service leverages Vodafone’s MCX (Mission Critical eXperience) offering—starting with Germany—which prioritises all app-generated multimedia traffic (voice, data, video) for blue-light organisations and critical industries. We will also extend mobile broadband coverage to remote regions and offshore zones via our pioneering low-Earth-orbit, direct-to-mobile satellites.

Following successful proof-of-concept trials in Ireland and the UK, enterprises and public agencies will be able to procure two variants through the Vodafone Business Marketplace beginning in 2025:

  • Collaborative Worker with Airbus: Secure push-to-talk, messaging, and basic team-collaboration tools via standard iOS and selected Android or rugged devices.
  • Collaborative and Safe Worker with Airbus: All the above plus video communications, emergency calling, and live location tracking.

As a cloud-based SaaS solution, our Airbus-powered service scales on demand, enabling rapid onboarding of new users or sub-groups in response to evolving incidents. Vodafone Business will also provide expert consultancy and dedicated support, including the deployment of mobile private networks (MPNs) and remote device-management services.

“By uniting Vodafone’s robust, geographically scaled networks with Airbus’s secure Agnet platform, we are setting a new benchmark for mission-critical communications,” said Marika Auramo, CEO of Vodafone Business. “Our joint solution empowers organisations to maintain seamless, feature-rich connectivity in even the most demanding environments, enhancing both operational efficiency and worker safety.”

“This partnership brings together the best of both worlds: Vodafone’s network reach and Airbus’s cutting-edge critical-communications expertise,” added Olivier Koczan, Head of Public Safety and Security at Airbus Defence and Space. “Together, we’re equipping teams across Europe with the tools they need to collaborate securely and respond swiftly.”
