ECE and Allianz: New, modernized food court at Silesia City Center in Katowice, Poland

Attractive design, comfortable atmosphere, and a better quality of stay

HAMBURG, 26-Oct-2017 — /EuropaWire/ — Launch of the new food court at Silesia City Center: ECE and Allianz have opened the new, comprehensively modernized food court of the shopping center located in the Polish city of Katowice. During an extensive refurbishment period, the modernized food court of the center received a new high-quality design with modern furniture and a better quality of stay. The refurbishment and modernization was conducted during ongoing operations in the center in a construction time of approximately five months. All in all the owners invested two million euros into the modernization. The food court with a size of approximately 3,000 m² features twelve different concepts with diverse offerings of international chain restaurants such as McDonald’s, Burger King und Kentucky Fried Chicken, Polish F&B retailers such as North Fish and Sphinx as well as local operators like Sam Smak and Eataliana.

The modernized food court will welcome its visitors with a new clearly designed entrance area and a modern design concept which is characterized by the use of high-quality materials such as concrete, copper, and light oak wood, and a standardized overall design for all F&B retailers. New acoustic ceiling elements, a modern lighting concept, and matching furniture create a comfortable atmosphere and invite visitors to spend time here and indulge into the culinary delights on offer. The new food area has approximately 330 seats and is divided into five different themed areas, each with its individual color concept: Kutchina (kitchen), Barek (beer garden), Weranda (terrace), Salon (living room), Jadalnia (dining room) and a playground. The family services available include high chairs for babies and microwave ovens to heat up baby food. Furthermore, there is a large number of USB charging stations for guests.

The refurbishment of the food court is the continuation of the overall enhancement and redesign of Silesia City Center: During the restructuring, the focus was laid on bringing in more high-quality fashion concepts. The large number of international premium brands at the center include Ermenegildo Zegna, Joop, Lacoste, Longchamp, Marc Cain, Marciano by Guess, Marella, Max Mara, Michael Kors, and Rolex. The anchors include C&A, H&M, Saturn, Smyk, Tesco, Van Graaf, different labels of LLP Group, among them Reserved, and of Inditex Group such as Bershka and Zara. Silesia City Center was opened in 2005 and boasts more than 260 shops, service providers, cafés, restaurants, a Multiplex movie theater, and a fitness center on a total leasable area of approximately 86,000 m². Allianz and ECE, together with an Asian joint-venture partner, had acquired the center in 2013. ECE is responsible for providing management and leasing services for the property.
