Today, Allianz Group has again been recognized as one of the leading sustainable insurers by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI).

MUNICH, 08-Sep-2016 — /EuropaWire/ — Since its inception in 1999, Allianz has been included in the DJSI with top ranking positions each year since 2000. Our objective is to continuously improve our performance and strive for sustainability leadership in our sector. 2016 Allianz achieved its largest improvement in the rating so far, a 6 %-points plus.

“This year’s result again highlights our outstanding results in integrating sustainability issues in our business processes, organization and product portfolio, but also the continuity of our performance”, says Katharina Latif, Head of Corporate Responsibility at Allianz SE.

As an industry leader Allianz sees sustainability ratings such as the DJSI as tools to promote transparency and trustworthiness towards markets and stakeholders. In its role as a responsible investor, we Allianz relies on sustainability ratings as part of its long-term ESG integration approach for proprietary investments as well as in the responsible investment products offered to its asset management customers.

Continuously improving of the performance in the DJSI requires the implementation of a multitude of actions by various actors across Allianz Group. Some of these actions will be quick wins, while for others the result will only be apparent in the medium to long term. To further improve the performance in next year’s assessment, Allianz is working with an external auditor to conduct a limited assurance engagement on its Sustainability Report 2016. This will further improve the quality of the reporting and will formalize the way sustainability is embedded in core functions and business units. In July 2016, Allianz published its ESG Integration Framework to provide rating agencies, NGOs and other experts with a detailed and transparent overview of the ESG integration processes and policies at Allianz.

Actions like these help to sustain Allianz’ position amongst the leaders of sustainability ratings such as DJSI.

About the Dow Jones Sustainability Index

What is the DJSI?

The DJSI is one of the world’s most recognized sustainability ratings. The DJSI is prepared based on the RobecoSAM Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA). The CSA assesses a company based on its public disclosures and transparency of its sustainability approach, as well as internal and confidential data provided directly by the company.

What kind of information is considered in the Corporate Sustainability Assessment?

The CSA considers a wide range of economic, environmental and social topics, such as for example human resources programs, executive compensation, tax policies, shareholder rights, compliance and anti-corruption programs, environmental management and performance, corporate social engagement, customer satisfaction, and many other dimensions.

Who is involved in responding to the DJSI?

More than 20 experts from various functions across Allianz (Group Risk, Group Tax, Group Legal and Compliance, Group Human Resources, Group Investor Relations, Group Digital Transformation, Environmental Management, Operational Health and Safety, Group Communications and Corporate Responsibility, and Allianz Climate Solutions amongst others) work together to prepare the Allianz response.
