Tetra Pak Earns Platinum EcoVadis Rating, Joining the Top One Percent of Global Companies

(IN BRIEF) Tetra Pak has been awarded EcoVadis’s highest Platinum rating, ranking it in the top 1 percent of over 130,000 evaluated companies. The accolade affirms the strength of Tetra Pak’s sustainability management across environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and procurement. Anchored in its purpose—making food safe, accessible, and protecting people and the planet—the company focuses on five pillars: food systems, climate, nature, circularity and social sustainability. In 2024, Tetra Pak established a Sustainability Excellence team to embed responsible practices into daily operations. Its “Join Us in Protecting the Planet” initiative guided 29 suppliers to set science‑based climate targets, cutting purchased‑materials emissions by 15 percent from 2019 levels. A new Supplier Code of Conduct further strengthens human rights and environmental due diligence in its supply chain. Lars Holmquist emphasized that the Platinum rating reflects Tetra Pak’s collective effort and ongoing pledge to sustainability.

(PRESS RELEASE) LAUSANNE, 29-Jul-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Tetra Pak has been awarded the coveted Platinum medal in the latest EcoVadis evaluation, placing it among the top 1 percent of more than 130,000 companies worldwide. This top-tier rating validates the excellence of Tetra Pak’s sustainability management system and its dedication to full transparency across the entire value chain.

The Platinum status highlights Tetra Pak’s comprehensive approach to sustainability, spanning EcoVadis’s four assessment pillars—environmental stewardship, labour and human rights, business ethics, and sustainable procurement. It reflects the company’s ambition to embed responsible practices at every stage of its operations.

Central to Tetra Pak’s mission—to make food safe and available everywhere while safeguarding food, people and the planet—are five interlinked focus areas: food systems, climate action, nature preservation, circularity and social sustainability. In 2024, the company strengthened its sustainability capabilities by establishing a Sustainability Excellence team, enhancing processes, systems, data analytics and staff expertise to ensure sustainability considerations are woven into daily tasks.

A significant factor in securing Platinum status was Tetra Pak’s enhanced transparency efforts and cross‑departmental collaboration. Through its “Join Us in Protecting the Planet” supplier engagement programme, the company helped 29 key suppliers set verified science‑based climate targets. This partnership resulted in a 15 percent reduction in emissions from purchased materials against a 2019 baseline, achieved by optimizing volume allocation and working closely with suppliers.

In addition, Tetra Pak rolled out an updated Supplier Code of Conduct built on 15 core principles to bolster human rights protections and environmental due diligence throughout its supply network.

Lars Holmquist, Executive Vice President at Tetra Pak, remarked: “This Platinum EcoVadis recognition is a testament to the collective dedication of our teams and partners. It demonstrates our shared commitment to continuous improvement and to integrating long‑term sustainability into every facet of our operations and value chain.”
