Telkomsel and Ericsson Renew Partnership to Boost 4G/5G Networks Across Indonesia

(IN BRIEF) Telkomsel and Ericsson have announced the renewal of their partnership to enhance and expand their existing 4G/5G network coverage in Indonesia. This collaboration will involve deploying Ericsson’s energy-efficient 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) products and solutions in various regions of the country, including Aceh, Northern Sumatra, and parts of Kalimantan. Telkomsel aims to utilize this upgraded network to bolster services for both business and consumer segments, particularly in the Industry 4.0 ecosystem and smart city initiatives. Ericsson will provide its ultra-lightweight and energy-efficient Massive MIMO antenna integrated radio AIR 3219 to address future 5G and Fixed Wireless Access and Convergence (FWA/FMC) requirements. The partnership aligns with Telkomsel’s goal of achieving a more inclusive and sustainable digital lifestyle for its consumers. This announcement was made during the Ericsson Imagine Live event in Jakarta, where Ericsson showcased its latest innovations and technology demonstrations, underlining its longstanding presence and contribution to Indonesia’s telecommunications landscape over the past 116 years.

Ericsson has been providing connectivity and has deployed its energy-efficient 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) products and solutions from the Ericsson Radio System in Aceh, Northern Sumatra, Central & West Sumatra and Eastern part of Kalimantan, including New Capitol City (Nusantara). Thus, in B2B (Business-to-Business) segment, 5G services for Industry have been pioneered through 5G deployment in a leading manufacturing company in Batam since 2021.

Ericsson is powering Telkomsel’s network with its ultra-lightweight, energy-efficient Massive MIMO antenna integrated radio AIR 3219 that will serve to address future 5G and Fixed Wireless Access and Convergence (FWA/FMC) requirements.

The new generation Massive MIMO radios from Ericsson have been developed with the goal of having industry-leading, energy efficient products with the smallest size and lightest weight possible.
