TotalEnergies Partners with Wood on $46M Contract to Enhance Energy Sustainability in Iraq
(IN BRIEF) Wood secures a $46 million contract over three years from TotalEnergies to provide engineering and consulting services for the Associated Gas Upstream Project in Iraq. The project aims to recover flared gas in the Basra region and includes the construction of a seawater treatment unit and a solar power plant.
(PRESS RELEASE) ABERDEEN, 12-Jun-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — In a significant development for the energy sector in Iraq, Wood, a global leader in consulting and engineering, has secured a new contract valued at $46 million over three years from TotalEnergies.
Under this contract, Wood will play a crucial role in the first phase of the Associated Gas Upstream Project, a key component of the Gas Growth Integrated Project (GGIP) in Southern Iraq. This project aims to recover gas that is currently being flared in the Basra region to supply power generation plants. Additionally, it involves the construction of a seawater treatment unit and a 1GW solar power plant.
Shaun Dewar, Senior Vice President of Operations, Middle East and Africa at Wood, expressed the company’s pride in supporting TotalEnergies on this venture. He emphasized their shared commitment to ensuring a secure and sustainable energy supply. The contract will be executed by Wood’s teams based in Basra and Dubai, leading to the creation of 100 new positions. This expansion underscores Wood’s commitment to driving local employment opportunities and enhancing its presence in Iraq and the UAE.
