Yogesh Malik appointed Uninor CEO

3-5-2013 — /europawire.eu/ —  Uninor today announced that it has appointed Mr. Yogesh Malik as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the operating company with immediate effect. Sigve Brekke will continue to be responsible for all of Telenor affairs in India as the Head of Telenor Group’s Asian Operations.

Yogesh Malik joined Uninor in 2011. He comes from the position as COO in the company. In this role he has been responsible for developing a highly efficient operating model that has made Uninor a preferred choice for customers in the hypercompetitive Indian market.

He brings with him almost 20 years of extensive telecom experience.  He has previously held executive positions at Telenor Group headquarter in Norway, and he has served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Telenor Group companies in Ukraine and Bangladesh. His extensive career in the telecom industry also includes experience from AT&T, Tata and Ericsson in India and Sweden and for the international mobile operator TIW (today known as Vodafone) in Canada, China, Brazil and the Czech Republic.

Sigve Brekke to fully focus on Asian growth

In parallel to being Manager Director of Uninor, Sigve Brekke has also held the position as Telenor Group Head of Asian Operations. When he now steps down as MD of Uninor he will fully focus on this role. He will continue to have overall responsibility for Telenor affairs in India as the head of Region Asia and will formally take over as Chairman of Uninor once necessary regulatory clearances are secured.
