Scania Launches Longline Cab for Series Production Expanding Premium Truck Offering with Enhanced Space and Flexibility

(IN BRIEF) Scania has introduced its Longline cab into series production, offering a new premium solution designed for increased space, flexibility, and driver comfort. Combining elements of the CrewCab and S-series high-roof cab, the Longline provides a unique factory-built configuration tailored for customisation. The cab features a modular interior design with flexible layouts, enabling customers to adapt the space to their specific needs. Developed in response to demand for better driver working conditions, it offers increased interior height and extended length options under European IVD regulations. Produced in Laxå with chassis assembly in Södertälje, the Longline will be available as a low-volume, factory-certified option, with sales starting in April 2026 and deliveries expected in autumn.

(PRESS RELEASE) SÖDERTÄLJE, 30-Apr-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Scania has announced the introduction of its Longline cab into series production, expanding its premium truck offering with a new solution focused on space, flexibility, and driver comfort. The model builds on a long-standing concept within the brand’s portfolio and is now being industrialised as a factory-certified, low-volume option for customers seeking highly customisable vehicle configurations.

The Longline cab merges elements from Scania’s CrewCab and S-series high-roof cab, creating a configuration that is not currently offered as a factory-built solution by other manufacturers. Production of the cab will take place in Laxå, while the chassis will be assembled in Södertälje, reflecting Scania’s integrated manufacturing approach.

According to Lars Gustafsson, Head of Trucks at Scania, the Longline represents a natural progression of a concept that has been well received by customers over time. By combining heritage design with modern production capabilities, the company aims to deliver a platform that can be adapted to a wide range of individual customer requirements.

Rather than offering a fully predefined interior, the Longline cab has been designed as a modular and flexible platform. From the factory, it will include a simplified interior layout behind the seats, with options such as a standard bed combined with storage or shelving, as well as more open configurations. The design incorporates clearly defined mounting points, allowing customers to customise interiors according to their specific operational needs.

Samuel Suderbys, Managing Director of Scania’s Laxå operations, noted that the approach avoids unnecessary components, aligning with the company’s sustainability objectives by reducing material use and waste.

To further support personalisation, Scania will provide a wide range of premium paint options in collaboration with a Swedish custom paint partner, enabling customers to select from a broad palette of automotive colours while shortening the time between vehicle delivery and operational readiness.

The Longline cab has been developed in response to market demand for improved driver conditions. With increased interior space and flexibility, the design aims to enhance the working environment for drivers—an important factor as transport companies face ongoing challenges in attracting and retaining skilled personnel.

The cab is compliant with European Increased Vehicle Dimensions (IVD) regulations, which allow for longer vehicle configurations across the region. It will initially be available in two length variants, 28 and 31, both featuring a high-roof design. With an interior height exceeding two metres, the cab provides sufficient standing room for most drivers, further improving comfort during long-haul operations.

Development of the Longline project began in 2022, following Scania’s established approach to creating specialised solutions tailored to customer needs. Sales of the new cab commenced in April 2026, with first deliveries expected later in the year. Positioned as a low-volume offering, the Longline cab is aimed at customers seeking a distinctive, highly adaptable platform for customised transport solutions.
