(PRESS RELEASE) BERKSHIRE, 27-Mar-2025 — /EuropaWire/ —  Vodafone UK (LON: VOD), a British multinational leader in technology communications, has inaugurated a state-of-the-art Cyber Security Center in Düsseldorf designed to safeguard and empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the digital age. Recognizing that large corporations benefit from extensive IT resources while SMEs often lack dedicated cybersecurity staff, Vodafone’s new center aims to bridge this gap by providing round-the-clock protection and rapid response to cyber threats.

Initially staffed by more than 20 cybersecurity experts monitoring companies nationwide from Düsseldorf headquarters, the center has now expanded its team to over 100 professionals. These experts are equipped with robust security mechanisms and real-time analytical tools to detect and neutralize potential cyber-attacks before they escalate.

In Germany, businesses face an average of 1,200 cyber-attacks every week, with nearly half of all online risks impacting SMEs. Recent research indicates that 47% of business risks in the country stem from digital threats, and over 50% of these attacks target small and medium-sized companies. The consequences are severe, with recovery from an attack typically taking around 21 days—a duration that can be especially devastating for smaller enterprises.

Hagen Rickmann is Managing Director of Vodafone Germany’s corporate customer business.

Hagen Rickmann, Managing Director of Vodafone Germany’s corporate customer business, stated, “We are democratizing cyber security for all businesses in the country. With more than half of hacker attacks aimed at SMEs, these companies are often left vulnerable without in-house IT expertise. Our goal is to support local craftsmen, master bakers, logistics experts, and others facing the challenges of digitalization so that they can safely harness the benefits of the digital revolution.”

The center operates in close partnership with industry leaders including Microsoft, and leverages a suite of advanced tools from partners such as Lookout, with plans to collaborate further with CybSafe, TrendMicro, Zscaler, and Google. The customized services are designed specifically for SMEs, focusing on reducing vulnerabilities, detecting threats early, and minimizing potential damage. In addition to providing protective measures, Vodafone offers training tools to educate employees on recognizing and countering online threats. The CyberHub tool further empowers companies to independently monitor and manage their digital security posture, ensuring a proactive defense against cyber-attacks.
