The innovative TEGO® Cycle portfolio not only saves energy during the mechanical recycling process but also elevates polymer quality, facilitating the transformation of the plastics value chain into a sustainable ‘value cycle.’

Addressing the urgent need to combat plastic waste and secure the planet’s future, the global production of plastic has reached unprecedented levels. Since 1950, over ten billion tons of plastic have been produced, with more than half of that amount generated since 2000 alone. Approximately 400 million tons of plastic are added each year, with packaging materials accounting for nearly 40 percent of this volume. Regrettably, only a fraction of plastic waste is recycled, leading to vast quantities ending up in landfills, incinerators, or polluting the environment after just a single use.

Evonik’s diverse range of additives is specifically formulated to address each stage of the mechanical recycling value chain, enabling the conversion of plastic waste into reusable plastic goods. During the wet stage, Evonik’s antifoams and wetting agents enhance the efficiency of washing, separation, deinking, and drying processes, significantly reducing energy consumption. Additionally, during the compounding (dry stage) phase, Evonik’s odor absorbers, compatibilizers, dispersants, and processing aids improve processing capabilities and enhance polymer properties, resulting in more cost-effective and higher-quality recycled plastic content.

To showcase its full array of additives designed to enhance the mechanical recycling process and improve the quality of plastics, Evonik will be present at booth #A12 during the Plastics Recycling Show Europe in Amsterdam from 10-11 May.
