BAAR, 25-Nov-2019 — /EuropaWire/ — Sika announced it is acquiring a Romanian manufacturer of mortars and thermal insulation solutions with CHF 120 million sales per year. The acquisition will substantially strengthen the company’s position in the local Romanian construction chemicals market and extend its manufacturing footprint. The acquisition of Adeplast SA is subject to clearance by anti-trust authorities.
Post acquisition, Sika Romania will see its product portfolio strengthened for the Target Market Building Finishing and will as well gain access to Adeplast’s large, well-established network of distributors.
Based just 70 km north of Bucharest in the city of Ploiești, Adeplast makes a wide range of building mortars as well as thermal insulation (EPS) for building envelope solutions. As of today, Adeplast owns four modern production plants covering the entire market of Romania and has the potential to serve neighboring countries. Located strategically Adeplast’s facilities will allow Sika to realize efficiency gains in logistics and warehousing as well as to further enhance its ability to serve customers with fast supply and excellent product availability.
Commenting on Adeplast’s acquisition, Ivo Schädler, Regional Manager EMEA at Sika, said:
“Adeplast is a proven industry leader and will considerably strengthen the presence of our Target Market Building Finishing in the growing Romanian market. The improved access to the distribution channel will offer exciting crossselling opportunities, increase our market penetration, and drive the continued growth of both companies. Commenting on the deal with Sika, Adeplast owners’ representative Alexander Bărbuț said:
“Adeplast was the life’s work of our father, Marcel Bărbuț, and is a Romanian success story. We are convinced that Sika will continue this story and take the company even further, as part of one of the leading groups in Europe in our industry.”
