Sika further invests in waterproofing membrane manufacturing in Switzerland

(PRESS RELEASE) BAAR, 17-Mar-2020 — /EuropaWire/ — Sika operates a new production facility for the SikaProof® structural waterproofing membrane at its existing site in Sarnen, Switzerland. The expansion will increase the manufacturing efficiency and will allow Sika to serve the rapidly growing market. Sika aims to double the sales of its SikaProof® product family by 2023, under its new growth strategy – benefits from the application of an innovative, patented membrane technology.

The SikaProof® system is used to waterproof below-ground structures and basements. The key to the system’s reliable performance is The full bond between the SikaProof® sheet membrane and concrete structure. The watertightness of basements deals with ever more stringent requirements in the wake of growing urbanization and densification which fuels the demand for high-grade and long-lasting waterproofing systems.

The new production facility will simplify the supply chain by allowing the membranes to be manufactured in a single operation at one site, thus significantly improve sustainability performance.

Ivo Schädler, Regional Manager EMEA, explains: “The new facility offers Sika a number of benefits: The manufacture of SikaProof® membranes in a single step will boost efficiency, increase capacity, and thereby allow us to provide our customers in the EMEA region with an even better service. This, in turn, will pave the way for further growth in the attractive Target Market Waterproofing.”
