Siemens and Rittal Join Forces to Address Rising AI Power Demands with Standardized Data Center Infrastructure

(IN BRIEF) Siemens and Rittal have formed a strategic partnership to develop standardized and sustainable power distribution solutions for data centers, addressing the growing demands driven by AI and high-performance computing. The collaboration aims to accelerate data center construction, reduce time-to-compute, and support rapidly increasing power densities, which are expected to rise significantly by 2030. Key innovations include integrated power rack systems located at the core of data centers and standardized low-voltage distribution solutions for modular environments. By targeting global markets aligned with IEC standards and already implementing initial customer projects, the partnership positions both companies to play a leading role in shaping future-ready data center infrastructure and expanding their solutions into additional industries.

(PRESS RELEASE) MUNICH, 17-Mar-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Siemens has entered into a strategic partnership with Rittal, part of the Friedhelm Loh Group, to develop standardized and sustainable power distribution solutions for the next generation of data centers. The collaboration is designed to support the rapid expansion of high-performance computing infrastructure, particularly as artificial intelligence applications drive unprecedented increases in power demand and density.

The partnership focuses on creating a unified infrastructure framework that simplifies and accelerates data center construction while reducing time-to-compute. By targeting markets aligned with International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards, the initiative is positioned to address global demand for scalable and compliant data center solutions.

As AI workloads continue to grow, data centers are experiencing power densities exceeding 100 kilowatts per rack, with projections indicating that these levels could increase more than tenfold by 2030. This trend is driving the need for new approaches to power distribution, cooling, and heat management. Siemens and Rittal aim to meet these challenges through innovative system architectures that improve efficiency and sustainability.

A key development from the collaboration is a new application designed to be installed directly within the core of data centers, alongside server and storage systems. This solution consolidates power electronics into dedicated power racks that supply energy to server cabinets, offering a more efficient and scalable approach to supporting high-density computing environments.

In addition to this innovation, the companies are working on a standardized low-voltage distribution system tailored for modular and containerized data centers. They are also developing enhanced safety solutions to improve both operational reliability and personnel protection. Initial customer projects based on these technologies are already underway.

Looking ahead, Siemens and Rittal expect their collaboration to extend beyond data centers into other industries, leveraging their combined expertise to develop advanced infrastructure solutions across a wider range of applications.
