(PRESS RELEASE) DÜSSELDORF, 12-Jan-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Rheinmetall has secured a contract to deliver the first Lynx KF41 infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine, marking a significant step toward broader deployment of the next-generation platform. The agreement, signed in December 2025, covers an initial batch of five vehicles with a contract value in the mid double-digit million euro range. The procurement is financed by the German government, reinforcing Germany’s continued support for Ukraine’s defence capabilities. Delivery of the first systems is scheduled for early 2026.

The selection of the Lynx KF41 follows an extensive testing phase in which the vehicle demonstrated its suitability for modern battlefield requirements. The infantry fighting vehicles will be equipped with the two-man Lance turret and tailored specifically to the operational needs of Ukraine’s armed forces. Rheinmetall and its partners are already preparing for subsequent procurement phases, which are expected to include additional vehicle batches and the establishment of production capabilities in Ukraine.

Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger described the order as an important milestone, highlighting the trust placed in the company by Ukraine and acknowledging the role of the German government in enabling the programme. He emphasized that the contract represents a tangible contribution to strengthening Ukraine’s defence readiness and a foundation for long-term industrial cooperation.

Designed with a strong focus on adaptability, the Lynx KF41 is built around a modular concept that supports evolving mission profiles and future technological upgrades. Its open electronic architecture, large protected interior volume, scalable weight design and advanced protection systems combine high mobility with enhanced crew safety. The vehicle’s ergonomic layout further supports sustained operations, enabling crews to operate effectively during extended missions in demanding conditions.
