(PRESS RELEASE) HERZOGENAURACH, 29-Apr-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Following a remarkable performance at the Boston Marathon, PUMA’s Project3 participants continued their exceptional progress at the 2025 London Marathon, collectively shaving an astonishing 2 hours, 51 minutes, and 19 seconds off their personal best times.

A total of 90 runners from nine countries competed in the London Marathon, with 39 runners setting new personal bests while wearing the cutting-edge Fast-R NITRO™ Elite 3 shoes. Of these, 23 runners smashed their previous records by more than three minutes, earning a £2,250 ($3,000) cash prize. In total, PUMA will reward £58,500 ($78,000) in performance-based prizes—an amount greater than the combined winnings of the men’s and women’s elite race champions.

Lucy Jones set the fastest female time for Project3, crossing the finish line in 2:30:23, a stunning improvement of 22 minutes and 31 seconds over her previous marathon record. As the fastest female Project3 runner, Lucy will receive a total prize of £6,750 ($9,000). Her performance also earned her the title of Project3 runner with the biggest time improvement, breaking her personal record by more than three minutes.

On the men’s side, Kevin Salvano finished as the fastest Project3 male runner with a time of 2:13:03, securing 18th place overall.

Lucy reflected on her achievement: “I started at a 2:33 pace, found a solid rhythm, and felt good at the halfway point. When I reached 20 miles feeling strong, I decided to push. I’m so thrilled with the new PB. Last year, I wasn’t running competitively and went out too hard. This time, I knew pacing myself smartly could help me improve, but I never expected this much progress. The Fast-R NITRO™ Elite 3 shoes felt unbelievably fast, and they really worked well for me.”

PUMA launched Project3 in January as a global running initiative, offering participants in both the 2025 Boston and London Marathons the chance to experience life as a professional athlete while trialing the Fast-R NITRO™ Elite 3 shoes. The program also offered the opportunity to earn significant performance-based cash prizes, forming part of PUMA’s global brand elevation strategy and celebrating its latest campaign, “Go Wild.”
