(PRESS RELEASE) HERZOGENAURACH, 16-Nov-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Global sportswear giant PUMA has unveiled the latest Home and Away kits for five of Africa’s most celebrated footballing nations: Egypt, Côte d’Ivoire, Morocco, Senegal, and Ghana. These designs are infused with rich cultural symbolism, blending art, history, and national pride to create visually striking jerseys that honor each nation’s identity while elevating their presence on the global football stage.

Cultural Inspiration Behind the Designs

Egypt’s kits pay tribute to its storied history as the “Land of Kings and Queens.” The bold red Home jersey features intricate patterns of Pharaohs, pyramids, and sand dunes, while the white Away kit highlights an iconic Pharaoh motif, surrounded by pyramid-inspired details.

For Côte d’Ivoire, the designs draw from the annual “La Fête des Masques,” a festival deeply rooted in Ivorian folklore. The vibrant orange Home jersey incorporates fringe effects reminiscent of traditional festival costumes, while the Away kit captures the dynamic dances of the event with a green and white color scheme that places the national elephant emblem at the forefront.

Morocco’s kits, created by Abderrahmane Trabsini, celebrate the nation’s rich artistry. The Home kit is inspired by traditional Moroccan zellige tiles, featuring geometric designs that symbolize unity and eternity, while the Away kit incorporates Berber motifs representing harmony and protection. Both designs are grounded in the vibrant red and green palette of the Moroccan flag, further connecting the kits to the nation’s heritage.

Senegal’s Home kit reflects “Teranga,” the spirit of hospitality, with a modern, minimalist design accentuated by national flag colors. The Away kit takes a more striking approach, featuring a bold lion print in green and lime shades, symbolizing Senegal’s fearless identity and cultural artistry.

For Ghana, designer Jefferson Osei collaborated with Ghanaian painter Daniel Alum Jasper to craft kits that unite the country’s diverse tribes. The Home kit features Adinkra symbols in a subtle, sweat-activated design, alongside a bold black star. The yellow Away jersey, inspired by Ghana’s “Gold Coast,” incorporates the same symbols on its sleeves, celebrating the nation’s rich cultural tapestry.

High-Performance Features with a Sustainability Focus

The kits are designed for both elite performance and fan enjoyment. Replica jerseys use PUMA’s RE technology, containing 95% recycled textile waste, while Authentic jerseys feature ULTRAWEAVE fabric, designed for lightweight durability and athletic performance. Both utilize dry-CELL sweat-wicking technology to ensure comfort during intense matches and everyday wear.

A Celebration of African Football

“Africa is part of PUMA’s DNA, and we are honored to work alongside these fantastic nations. As we approach the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, we look forward to seeing these kits become part of iconic moments on and off the pitch.”
