Outokumpu Announces Leadership Transition: Kati ter Horst to Assume Role of President and CEO
(IN BRIEF) Kati ter Horst will become the President and CEO of Outokumpu on October 1, 2024, leading to her resignation from her current role as a member and vice chairman of the company’s board of directors. The board will temporarily have seven members until a new vice chairman is elected at the next annual general meeting in 2025. Heikki Malinen, the current President and CEO, will step down on September 30, 2024. This leadership transition was first announced in July 2024.
(PRESS RELEASE) HELSINKI, 2-Sep-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Outokumpu, a global leader in sustainable stainless steel, has announced that Kati ter Horst will officially take over as President and CEO of the company on October 1, 2024. In preparation for her new role, ter Horst has stepped down from her position as a member and vice chairman of Outokumpu’s board of directors, effective immediately upon her appointment.
With ter Horst’s departure from the board, Outokumpu’s board will temporarily operate with seven members until a new vice chairman is elected at the company’s next annual general meeting in 2025.
This leadership change follows the decision of current President and CEO Heikki Malinen to step down from his role on September 30, 2024. The company had previously announced ter Horst’s upcoming appointment as CEO on July 9, 2024, signaling a strategic leadership transition for Outokumpu.
