(PRESS RELEASE) LINZ, 2-Sep-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Voestalpine AG (VIE: VOE), an Austria-based leading steel and technology group with a unique combination of materials and processing expertise, is reinforcing its commitment to nurturing young talent as 380 new apprentices embark on their training journey across Austria. With a strong tradition of investing in the next generation, the company currently trains 1,500 apprentices worldwide, including 1,040 in Austria alone. This new cohort of apprentices will be distributed across key regions, with approximately 175 in Upper Austria, 160 in Styria, and 45 in Lower Austria.

The company’s robust apprenticeship program, one of the largest in Austria, offers training in about 30 different professions across 16 locations. Each apprentice benefits from voestalpine’s cutting-edge training facilities, which integrate the latest technologies such as virtual reality, robotics, and digital learning modules. This state-of-the-art approach ensures that voestalpine apprentices are well-prepared for the demands of the global market, with the company investing over EUR 90,000 in the training of each apprentice.

Voestalpine CEO, Herbert Eibensteiner, highlighted the importance of this initiative, especially in light of the current shortage of skilled workers. “It’s inspiring to see so many enthusiastic young people choosing to start their careers with us. Our advanced training centers are the perfect environment for them to develop the skills needed to succeed in the future.”

In addition to technical training, voestalpine also focuses on the personal and social development of its apprentices, offering language programs, excursions, and special events like the annual Group Apprentice Day. The company is also making strides in promoting gender diversity, with women now representing 26% of all apprentices and 22% of those in technical fields—a significant increase over the past decade.

As voestalpine continues to develop the workforce of the future, it remains dedicated to providing exceptional training opportunities that equip young professionals with the skills and experience they need to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
