Loughborough’s Textiles course students to display their work at Fashanne 2017

Final-year students on Loughborough’s Textiles course are preparing to join universities from across the Midlands to display their work at Fashanne 2017.

Leicestershire, UK, 23-May-2017 — /EuropaWire/ — Founded by BBC presenter Anne Davies, Fashanne is a fashion award ceremony for third-year students at East Midlands-based universities.

The students will compete for prizes of £1,000 in Fashion Design, Knitwear Design, Textile Design, and Footwear and Accessory Design. There will also be a People’s Choice Award, which will be awarded to the student with the most votes from the exhibition.

This year’s judges include fashion consultant and television presenter Gok Wan, and Loughborough Textiles graduate Emma Garner (pictured above, left). Last year, Emma won the Fashion Accessory Design Award for her creativity in 3D design and construction. Since graduating, Emma has taken up a position as Handbag Design Assistant at All Saints in London.

Kerry Walton, Programme Director for Textiles at Loughborough, said:

“Last year, five Textiles students took part in the first Fashanne Awards at Belvoir Castle, and we were very pleased that one of our students was selected for the Fashion Accessory Design Award. It was a great experience and allowed them to showcase their designs to a wider audience across the East Midlands.

“We were delighted to be invited to take part again, and this year four of our final-year students who are specialising in multi-media design will submit work for the awards.”

Fashanne will begin with a public two-day exhibition at St Mary’s Church in Nottingham’s Creative Quarter on June 20, with an awards ceremony on 22 June. Loughborough’s students will be joined by students from De Montfort and Nottingham Trent Universities, and the Universities of Northampton, Lincoln and Derby.
