Irish Minister Paschal Donohoe to Represent Euro Area at IMF and World Bank Meetings on Sustainable Development and Financial Stability

(IN BRIEF) Paschal Donohoe, President of the Eurogroup and Irish Minister for Public Expenditure, National Development Plan Delivery, and Reform, is attending the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group in Washington D.C. to represent the euro area. He will participate in various meetings, including the G7 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting, to discuss the state of the global economy, climate transition, and the sustainable development agenda, among other topics. Additionally, Donohoe will hold bilateral meetings with senior officials of international organizations, international partners, and global business leaders and take part in a roundtable and several media events.

(PRESS RELEASE) BRUSSELS, 11-Apr-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — The European Council, the EU institution that defines the general political direction and priorities of the European Union, announces that Paschal Donohoe, President of the Eurogroup and Minister for Public Expenditure, National Development Plan Delivery, and Reform, is traveling to Washington D.C. today, 11 April, to attend the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group. He will represent the euro area and participate in the G7 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting, as well as a range of IMF and World Bank meetings.

Discussions will center around the state of the global economy, the European economic outlook, global financial stability, support for Ukraine amidst Russia’s war, climate transition, and the sustainable development agenda. Minister Donohoe will also hold bilateral meetings with senior officials of international organizations, international partners, and global business leaders.

Moreover, he will take part in a roundtable organized by the Brookings Institute Center on the United States and Europe and engage in several media events to communicate European economic and financial policy to a global audience.
