Infineon’s EZ-USB FX10 Powers CIS’s New 10 Gbps USB 3.2 Cameras with 275% Bandwidth Boost

Infineon’s EZ-USB FX10 Powers CIS’s New 10 Gbps USB 3.2 Cameras with 275% Bandwidth Boost

(IN BRIEF) Infineon’s EZ-USB FX10 and FX5 controllers are powering CIS Corporation’s new USB 3.2 cameras, enabling 5 Gbps and 10 Gbps modes and up to 275 percent more bandwidth than the EZ-USB FX3. The FX10 features dual Cortex-M cores, robust memory, a cryptography engine, DMA-enabled LVDS/USB data paths and USB-C flip-mux logic. CIS will offer 3 MP, 5 MP, 4K/8 MP and 20 MP camera models in July 2025, including a Clairivu™-based 4K variant in a 29 mm cube. This collaboration highlights Infineon’s role in advancing high-throughput, low-power USB 3.2 devices across multiple industries.

(PRESS RELEASE) MUNICH, 18-Jun-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) today announced that CIS Corporation is integrating Infineon’s EZ-USB™ FX10 and FX5 controllers into its upcoming USB 3.2 cameras, offering both 5 Gbps and 10 Gbps transfer modes. Building on the established EZ-USB FX3 platform, these new controllers add native USB 10 Gbps support and LVDS connectivity, boosting aggregate bandwidth by up to 275 percent over prior-generation solutions. This leap in throughput empowers devices to handle data-intensive imaging tasks with greater speed and efficiency.

The FX10, CIS’s flagship choice, combines dual Arm® Cortex®-M4 and M0+ processors with 512 KB of flash, 128 KB each of SRAM and ROM, plus seven serial communication blocks. A built-in cryptography accelerator and a high-bandwidth subsystem enable direct-memory-access transfers between LVDS/LVCMOS inputs and USB ports at up to 10 Gbps, while an extra 1 MB of SRAM smooths data buffering. Integrated USB-C detection and flip-mux features further eliminate external logic, supporting more compact, power-efficient designs.

“Partnering with CIS on these next-generation cameras showcases how our USB connectivity solutions accelerate innovation in high-data-rate applications,” said Ganesh Subramaniam, Senior Vice President of Wired Connectivity Solutions at Infineon. “Our controllers deliver the performance, low-power operation and design flexibility that shorten time-to-market for USB 3.2 devices in areas ranging from industrial automation to medical imaging.”

CIS plans to sample multiple camera models—including 3 MP, 5 MP, 4K/8 MP and 20 MP variants—powered by EZ-USB FX5 and FX10, with mass production slated for July. The forthcoming 4K edition integrates CIS’s Clairivu™ image-signal processor while still fitting into a 29 mm-cubed housing—halving the volume of its predecessor—thanks to the controllers’ minimal power draw. This compact, plug-and-play form factor, combined with high-speed USB connectivity, extends CIS’s reach into logistics, robotics, life sciences and beyond.
