(PRESS RELEASE) BILBAO, 11-Feb-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Iberdrola, through its U.S. subsidiary Avangrid, has entered into a new power purchase agreement (PPA) with American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP), securing a continued supply of clean energy from the Blue Creek wind farm in Ohio. This agreement ensures that the 304 MW wind farm, located in Van Wert and Paulding counties, will maintain its role in providing reliable, sustainable power to Ohio homes and businesses, while also benefiting the region’s rural communities through job creation, tax revenues, and land lease payments.

AMP, which serves over 130 members across nine states, acts as both a wholesale energy supplier and service provider. The energy provided to AMP members is sourced from a diverse portfolio of resources, including power generated from AMP-owned facilities as well as wholesale energy purchases. With approximately 650,000 customers, AMP plays a key role in delivering a stable energy supply to a wide customer base.

Blue Creek, which has been operational since 2012, generates enough electricity annually to power approximately 76,000 homes. The wind farm also provided over 500 construction jobs, and much of its equipment was manufactured and assembled across several U.S. states, including Wisconsin, Texas, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and North Dakota.

In addition to the Blue Creek project, Avangrid is also making strides in Ohio with the development of the 202 MWdc Powell Creek solar plant. This new solar facility will further contribute to the state’s renewable energy capacity, generating enough clean energy to power 30,000 homes annually.
