(PRESS RELEASE) ZUG, 28-Jun-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Holcim has announced plans to expand the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across its global manufacturing operations, scaling AI deployment to more than 100 plants worldwide over the next four years. Already implemented at 45 plants to predict and prevent failures, Holcim aims to enhance operational resilience and efficiency by leveraging advanced predictive maintenance solutions from C3 AI. This expansion will also involve piloting generative AI to further augment capabilities across its production facilities.

Miljan Gutovic, CEO of Holcim, emphasized the transformative impact of AI on the industry, highlighting its role in driving operational efficiency and improving customer service. Holcim’s AI initiatives extend beyond predictive maintenance to encompass product quality enhancement, process optimization, and the integration of autonomous vehicles and computer vision technologies.

The AI deployment is a cornerstone of Holcim’s broader Plants of Tomorrow program, aimed at modernizing its global network of plants and grinding stations. By leveraging digital and AI solutions, Holcim seeks to establish connected, smart, and energy-efficient facilities that complement its sustainability efforts, including decarbonization strategies. The initiative also includes innovations such as unmanned drones for enhanced safety inspections and smart control systems for optimizing energy consumption.

This strategic rollout underscores Holcim’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technologies to enhance manufacturing efficiency and sustainability across its global operations.
