EIB Group and VEHIS Launch PLN 2.6 Billion Auto-Lease Securitisation to Boost Polish SMEs

EIB Group and VEHIS Launch PLN 2.6 Billion Auto-Lease Securitisation to Boost Polish SMEs

(IN BRIEF) The EIB Group and VEHIS have structured a cash securitisation to issue PLN 2.6 billion of auto-lease financing for Polish SMEs and mid-caps. The EIB buys PLN 637 million of senior notes, while EIF guarantees an equivalent amount of senior and mezzanine notes to a third-party investor. The deal mandates that 30% of leases support women-led businesses and 10% finance electric vehicles. With over 9,000 performing leases in the reference portfolio—90% held by SMEs—this first-of-its-kind transaction in Poland drives regional development, economic inclusion, and the green transition.

(PRESS RELEASE) LUXEMBOURG, 4-Jul-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — The European Investment Bank (EIB) Group is partnering with Polish auto-finance platform VEHIS to unlock PLN 2.6 billion in leasing for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-caps across Poland. Through a pioneering cash securitisation structure, the EIB will purchase PLN 637 million (€150 million) of senior notes backed by VEHIS’s auto-lease portfolio, while the European Investment Fund (EIF) will guarantee a similar volume of senior and mezzanine notes to a third-party investor.

This transaction will expand access to funding for Polish businesses—particularly in underserved regions—while promoting gender equality and the green transition: at least 30% of new leases will serve women-led companies, and a minimum of 10% will finance electric vehicles. By leveraging capital-markets tools, the operation enhances regional development, economic inclusion, and cleaner transport across the country.

Jan Bujak, CFO of VEHIS, said:

“This is the first securitisation of a warehouse-financed lease portfolio in Poland’s history. Our collaboration with the EIB Group will fuel VEHIS’s dynamic growth, enabling continued SME support, inclusive financing for women entrepreneurs, and expansion of low-emission vehicle leasing.”

Marjut Falkstedt, Chief Executive of the EIF, added:

“By channelling resources through VEHIS, we’re delivering tangible impact where it’s needed most—empowering entrepreneurs who drive innovation, inclusion, and sustainability across Poland.”

EIB Vice-President Teresa Czerwińska commented:

“Supporting SMEs is core to the EIB Group’s mission. This targeted investment with VEHIS not only spurs business growth but also advances gender equality and accelerates the shift to cleaner transport—an investment in Poland’s future.”
