Covestro and Chaoyang University of Technology Join Forces for Environmental Education

(IN BRIEF) In a significant collaboration for Earth Day 2024, Covestro Taiwan and Chaoyang University of Technology have signed a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) plus University Social Responsibility (USR) MOU. This partnership expands their existing cooperation to develop an environmental protection program aimed at children, utilizing Covestro’s Little Earth Guardian Picture Book Volume II as a foundation. The program, focusing on circularity, aims to instill concepts of sustainability and a circular economy in young minds. Through storytelling events and engagement activities in elementary schools, Covestro and Chaoyang University of Technology aim to plant the seeds of environmental consciousness in children’s hearts. This initiative aligns with Covestro’s commitment to circularity and sustainability, as well as the university’s dedication to social responsibility and environmental education. The MOU signing ceremony, witnessed by officials from the German Institute Taipei and the Ministry of Education, underscores the importance of partnerships in promoting environmental awareness and education among future generations.

(PRESS RELEASE) LEVERKUSEN, 23-Apr-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — In a special ceremony on Earth Day, Covestro Taiwan signed a Corporate Social Responsiblility (CSR) plus University Social Responsibility (USR) MOU with Chaoyang University of Technology. This MOU will expand the collobaration of the company and the university from Covestro Science Club for hearing-impaired students in Taichung to an environmental protection program engaging children through a special picture book and storytelling events. Managing Director of Covestro Taiwan, Dr. Carsten Wildebrand, and President of Chaoyang University of Technology, Dr. Dao-Ming Cheng, signed the MOU on behalf of the company and the university respectively. The signing ceremony took place at the German Insitute Taipei (GIT) and was witnessed by Dr. Joerg Polster, Director General of the GIT, and Professor Oliver Su, Head of the Center for University Social Responsibility, Ministry of Education.

“The theme for Earth Day 2024 is ‘Planet vs. Plastics’, which is a call for all-in partnerships between businesses, governments, universities and citizens. With this MOU, Covestro authorizes Chaoyang University of Technology to develop Covestro’s Little Earth Guardian Picture Book Vollume II which focus on circulariy into a vivid storytelling program to engage children and help them to easily understand the concept of a circular economy. The university’s students and Covestro Taiwan volunteers will then take that program into elementary schools and plant a little circular economy seed in children’s hearts. In addition, Covestro Taiwan and Chaoyang University of Technology will continue their partnership in Covestro’s MagicMaterial School program, where the Associate Professor of Chaoyang University of Technology is helping Covestro to run the Covestro Science Club in Taichung school for the hearing-impaired.
