Catherine Chia to succeed Jolene Chen as a new HR at Prudential

(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 12-Jan-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Prudential plc (LON: PRU), a British multinational life and health insurance company, has announced the retirement of Jolene Chen, Group Human Resources Director. The company has also announced the appointment of Catherine Chia as her replacement. Ms. Chia will take on the role of Group Chief Human Resources Officer and will report to incoming CEO Anil Wadhwani as a member of the Group Executive Committee. She will be responsible for overseeing the strategic direction of group-wide human resources, including organizational design, talent management, learning and development, and employee engagement. Ms. Chia will start her role on 1 April 2023 in Prudential’s Group Head office in Hong Kong.

Ms Chia joins Prudential from StarHub, Singapore, where she worked as Chief HR Officer since 2018 to drive workforce optimisation, culture transformation and employee engagement. She also chaired the company’s Covid-19 taskforce.

Before leading the HR function at StarHub, Catherine held senior HR leadership roles in LEGO, United Overseas Bank, as well as Dell Inc. in Singapore and Shanghai.

Jolene Chen will retire at the end of March. She has been the Group Human Resources Director for Prudential since June 2019, and prior to that the Chief Human Resources Officer for Prudential Corporation Asia since 2011. She is also Co-Chair of Prudential’s Global D&I Council and Chair of Prudence Foundation, the philanthropic community investment arm of Prudential.
