Bechtle Achieves Science-Based Validation for Its 2050 Net-Zero Targets, Strengthening Long-Term Climate Commitment

(IN BRIEF) Bechtle AG has achieved validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its long-term net-zero targets, confirming their alignment with recognised scientific standards. The approval builds on the company’s earlier validated near and mid-term goals and reflects a consistent, science-based climate strategy. Bechtle aims to cut Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 90% and Scope 3 emissions by 97% per €1,000 of value creation by 2050, using 2019 as the baseline year. The company will neutralise residual emissions through verified carbon removal projects, focusing on decarbonisation levers such as energy, mobility, and procurement. This recognition reinforces Bechtle’s sustained leadership in corporate climate responsibility and its commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

(PRESS RELEASE) NECKARSULM, 13-Oct-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Bechtle AG, one of Europe’s leading IT service providers, has received official confirmation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) that its long-term net-zero targets align with internationally recognised scientific standards. This validation follows the earlier approval of Bechtle’s near and mid-term climate goals and reinforces the company’s overarching commitment to sustainability and emissions reduction across its entire value chain.

Under its newly validated framework, Bechtle pledges to reduce absolute greenhouse gas emissions across Scope 1 and 2 by 90% by 2050, while targeting a 97% reduction per €1,000 of value creation for Scope 3 categories 3.1 (purchased goods and services) and 3.11 (use of sold products). The company plans to offset any residual emissions through verifiable carbon removal measures. Central to Bechtle’s decarbonisation roadmap are improvements in energy efficiency, mobility, and procurement processes, reflecting a comprehensive approach to achieving net-zero operations.

Bechtle’s near and mid-term goals, validated earlier in 2025, set the stage for this milestone. By 2030, the company aims to reduce absolute emissions in Scopes 1 and 2 by 54.4%, alongside a 55% reduction in Scope 3 emissions for relevant categories, all benchmarked against a 2019 baseline. These incremental targets form part of a cohesive strategy to achieve climate neutrality while maintaining measurable progress along the way.

“This second validation shows that we’re not just setting ambitious targets, but also aligning them consistently with recognised scientific standards,” said Antje Leminsky, Chief Operating Officer at Bechtle AG. “It sends a clear signal of our commitment to sustainable business practices across the entire value chain and demonstrates that our climate goals are both credible and actionable.”

The SBTi — a collaboration between the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), UN Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI), and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) — serves as a leading global platform helping companies set climate goals aligned with the latest climate science. Bechtle’s approval under SBTi criteria positions the company among the growing number of enterprises that are formally committed to transparent, science-driven decarbonisation strategies.
