(PRESS RELEASE) KORTRIJK, 27-Nov-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Barco, renowned globally for its advanced visualization technology, will demonstrate its cutting-edge projection capabilities in a breathtaking video mapping event on Rio de Janeiro’s iconic Christ the Redeemer statue. This extraordinary display forms part of Belgium’s economic mission to Brazil, aimed at showcasing the nation’s technological innovation and fostering international collaboration.

Led by HRH Princess Astrid of Belgium, Representative of His Majesty the King, the mission will take place from November 23 to December 1, 2024, focusing on key industries such as Entertainment & Gaming. Organized by the Belgian Foreign Trade Agency in partnership with FPS Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, and regional agencies AWEX, FIT, and hub.brussels, the mission underscores Belgium’s commitment to global engagement.

A centerpiece of the mission is the video mapping event on November 28, which will feature HRH Princess Astrid alongside Belgian and Brazilian dignitaries. This event symbolizes the enduring friendship and diplomatic ties between the two nations.

Barco will provide four high-performance projectors, each delivering 20,000 lumens, to illuminate the statue with vibrant visuals of iconic landmarks from both Belgium and Brazil. Complementing Barco’s technology, Belgian companies Dirty Monitor and Many Mind Media will contribute artistic content and drone footage, respectively.

The event is organized by Agoria, the federation representing Belgium’s technology sector, as part of the “Belgium. Embracing Openness” campaign. Managed by the FPS Chancellery of the Prime Minister, this initiative aims to bolster Belgium’s global reputation as a hub for innovation and excellence, targeting investors, researchers, students, and opinion leaders worldwide.
