(IN BRIEF) ANDRITZ has secured a major contract to deliver complete electromechanical systems for the 339 MW Cizre hydropower plant in Türkiye, commissioned by CB Elektrik, part of CABA Group. The project includes five Francis turbine-generator units and an ECO-flow system, with ANDRITZ responsible for design, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning. Positioned as a key addition to Türkiye’s renewable energy capacity, the plant will support both clean electricity generation and grid stability, reflecting the growing importance of hydropower in balancing modern energy systems.

(PRESS RELEASE) GRAZ, 9-Apr-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — International engineering group ANDRITZ has been awarded a high-value contract to equip a new hydropower facility in southeastern Türkiye, further reinforcing its position in large-scale renewable energy infrastructure. The agreement, signed with CB Elektrik Üretim Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S., part of the CABA Group, covers the full delivery of electromechanical systems for the Cizre hydropower plant and will be reflected in the company’s early 2026 order intake.

Planned with a total capacity of 339 MW, the Cizre project is designed to make a meaningful contribution to Türkiye’s expanding clean energy mix. Rather than a simple equipment supply, ANDRITZ’s role spans the complete lifecycle of the project’s power-generating systems—from design and fabrication to installation and final commissioning—under a comprehensive turnkey model.

The plant will be powered by five high-capacity Francis turbine-generator units, each engineered for efficiency under the site’s operating conditions, alongside an additional ECO-flow unit that enables further energy recovery from water flows that would otherwise go unused. This configuration is intended to maximise output while maintaining flexibility in operations, particularly as energy systems become more reliant on intermittent sources such as wind and solar.

Frank Mette emphasised that hydropower remains a cornerstone of stable renewable energy systems, noting its dual function in both electricity generation and grid balancing. As countries increase their share of variable renewables, assets like Cizre play a key role in ensuring consistent supply and system reliability.

Türkiye continues to expand its renewable energy footprint, with hydropower already forming a major part of its installed capacity—second in Europe only to Norway. Ongoing investments in projects such as Cizre highlight the country’s ambition to further strengthen its energy independence while advancing toward long-term emissions reduction targets.

For ANDRITZ, the contract reflects continued demand for integrated hydropower solutions that combine performance, efficiency, and sustainability. The project also illustrates how modern hydropower developments are evolving—not only as sources of clean electricity, but as essential infrastructure supporting resilient and adaptable energy systems.
