(PRESS RELEASE) OSLO, 26-Nov-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Energy and marine consultancy ABL has been awarded a contract to provide Marine Warranty Survey (MWS) services for the construction of Iberdrola’s 315 MW Windanker offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea, off the coast of Germany. The project, which is set to become a key contributor to Germany’s renewable energy infrastructure, will see installation activities commence in 2025, with commissioning slated for late 2026.

Comprehensive Support for Offshore Operations

Based in Hamburg, ABL Germany will oversee the safe and efficient transportation and installation (T&I) of the wind farm’s foundations, inter-array cables, and wind turbine generators (WTGs). Their responsibilities include reviewing and approving technical documents, vessels, and operations connected to the warranted assets.

“We are thrilled to support Iberdrola on the Windanker project, building on the successful collaboration we had on the Baltic Eagle project,” said Tilo Klappenbach, ABL Germany’s Country Manager. “Our primary focus is minimizing risk and ensuring that offshore operations are conducted with safety and efficiency.”

A Significant Milestone for Germany’s Offshore Wind Industry

Located approximately 25 kilometers off the German coast in the Baltic Sea, the Windanker wind farm will feature 21 wind turbine generators, each with a capacity of 15 MW, contributing a total capacity of 315 MW to Germany’s renewable energy targets.

ABL’s extensive experience in offshore wind projects makes it a trusted partner for such endeavors. To date, ABL and its sister company OWC have participated in over 20 offshore wind farm projects in Germany, representing a combined capacity of over 9 GW.
