TenneT Launches ‘Modular Construction for Large Projects’ Program for Accelerated Grid Expansion

(IN BRIEF) TenneT has initiated its ‘Modular Construction for Large Projects’ program to expedite the expansion of the electricity grid. Recognizing the need for acceleration, the program aims to introduce more efficient and intelligent construction methods. It specifically targets the construction of 380 kV substations and high-voltage pylons for 380 kV connections. By employing standard designs and fixed modules, the program offers technical clarity, streamlines procurement processes, simplifies plot acquisition, and facilitates environmental discussions. Additionally, it reduces repetitive tasks, creating opportunities for more challenging and engaging work in the grid expansion efforts. The kick-off event for the program was attended by 300 guests at the Rijtuigenloods.

(PRESS RELEASE) ARNHEM, 17-Nov-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — TenneT kicked off its ‘Modular Construction for Large Projects’ programme. The kick-off took place in a bustling Rijtuigenloods, together with 300 guests.

With the growing urgency to speed up the expansion of the electricity grid, the realisation has dawned that acceleration is necessary. This requires a different way of working: more efficient and smarter. Modular Construction is one of the solutions.

The programme focuses specifically on the construction of 380 kV substations and high-voltage pylons for the 380 kV connections. Using standard designs and fixed modules not only provides technical clarity, but also offers advantages for procurement processes, plot acquisition and environmental talks. Moreover, repetitive work is avoided, creating space for more challenging and interesting work.
