(PRESS RELEASE) SAINT-OUEN-SUR-SEINE, 2-Jun-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Alstom (EPA: ALO), a French multinational rolling stock manufacturer and leader in sustainable and green mobility solutions, has revealed the first of 106 six-car high-capacity trainsets that will be deployed on Singapore’s East-West and North-South Lines. These new trains are part of the North-South and East-West Lines’ core systems upgrade and renewal program. They will replace older trains that have been in service for nearly 30 years. The delivery of all 106 trainsets will be completed by the end of 2026 under the Land Transport Authority (LTA) contract awarded to Alstom in 2018.

The initial two trains arrived in Singapore from China in February 2022, with subsequent trains being progressively delivered. The first trainset was unveiled at an event attended by prominent figures including Singapore’s Minister of Transport S. Iswaran and representatives from LTA, SMRT, and Alstom. Yann Maixandeau, Managing Director Singapore Malaysia for Alstom, emphasized the company’s commitment to transforming mobility by providing smarter and greener solutions. Alstom’s latest Movia trainsets will ensure Singapore maintains its position as home to one of the world’s most advanced urban metro systems.

Designed in Germany and manufactured by Alstom’s joint venture Changchun Alstom Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd. (CARC) in China, the trains offer several commuter-friendly features.
