(PRESS RELEASE) PARIS, 11-Mar-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — VINCI Airports, the world’s leading private airport operator, saw three of the airports in its network – Belgrade, Porto and Guanacaste – singled out by ACI (Airport Council International) as among the best airports in the world in their category for quality of service.

ACI’s rankings are a world benchmark for airport service quality and are of particular importance for sector players since they are based on passengers’ votes.

Belgrade airport also won awards for the most engaged team, the most pleasant and the cleanest airport in this latest ranking. They validate the progress made in the huge programme of works set in motion from the start of the concession contract in 2019. Modernisation works in the airport in 2023 allowed inauguration of a big central area for the terminal, commissioning of a new, second runway, together with new parking facilities and terminal access points. The programme will continue in 2024 and will increase the airport’s capacity to 15 million passengers a year.

Porto airport was named the best European airport in its category. In 2023, it unveiled its “Biometric Experience by VINCI Airports” for departing passengers, welcomed additional routes operated by new airline companies and launched a programme of works on the runway. This is the 17th award received by Porto airport from ACI in this category since 2006.

Guanacaste airport in Costa Rica also won an award as the airport with the most engaged team in the Latin America and Caribbean region and is continuing to increase the number of destinations offered.

These awards demonstrate VINCI Airports’ capacity to manage the recovery in world air traffic, confirmed in 2023, while also implementing ambitious renovation plans that offer high-level service and quality outcomes for its passengers.

Nicolas Notebaert, CEO of VINCI Concessions and Chairman of VINCI Airports, commented: “I am very proud of what VINCI Airports teams have achieved over the last year. Thanks to their know-how and excellence in operational management of our activities, they offer our passengers the highest possible standards in terms of travel experience in our network.”
