(PRESS RELEASE) PARIS, 9-Sep-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — In a significant move to expand its presence in India, VINCI Highways, a subsidiary of VINCI Concessions, has signed an agreement to acquire a 51% stake in HKR Roadways Limited, the operator of the SH1 highway concession in Telangana. The highway spans 206 kilometers, connecting Hyderabad with the northeast of the state. The deal, worth around €40 million, is expected to close by the end of 2024, pending regulatory approval.

This acquisition has been made in partnership with Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) Emerging Markets Fund, with VINCI Highways and GIP holding 51% and 49% stakes, respectively. The partnership between VINCI and GIP has previously seen VINCI take on majority stakes in London Gatwick and Edinburgh airports, further solidifying their strategic collaboration.

This acquisition not only strengthens VINCI Highways’ footprint in India, where it already operates toll systems through its subsidiary ViaPlus, but also enhances its role in the country’s growing infrastructure sector.
