Skanska to Lead Sustainable South Molton Development in London’s Mayfair with New Office and Retail Hub

(IN BRIEF) Skanska has been awarded a GBP 197 million contract by a joint venture of Grosvenor and Mitsui Fudosan UK to construct two new office buildings as part of the South Molton redevelopment in Mayfair, London. The project includes office, retail, leisure, and dining spaces, along with the restoration of the historic Running Horse pub. Targeting top environmental and digital certifications, the development aims to become a vibrant new destination in London’s West End. Construction has begun, with completion anticipated by July 2027.

(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 4-Nov-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Skanska has secured a contract valued at GBP 197 million (approximately SEK 2.6 billion) with a joint venture between Grosvenor and Mitsui Fudosan UK to develop South Molton, a new office and retail destination in Mayfair, London. This project, part of a larger redevelopment effort, includes the demolition of existing structures and construction of two category A office buildings, totaling 24,800 square meters (267,000 square feet), with 13,800 square meters (149,000 square feet) dedicated to office space.

The South Molton project also features retail, leisure, food, and beverage facilities, and includes a renovation of the historic Running Horse public house. Targeting high sustainability standards, the project aims for BREEAM Outstanding and a NABERS 5-star accreditation for energy performance, along with WiredScore Platinum certification for digital connectivity.

Once complete, South Molton will offer an appealing new hub in London’s West End for shopping, working, dining, and living. Construction has commenced, with completion scheduled for July 2027. This contract will be reflected in Skanska’s fourth-quarter bookings for 2024.
