(PRESS RELEASE) PARIS, 27-May-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Safran Passenger Innovations announces that the award-winning RAVE In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) system now supports Extended Reality (XR) including Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Mixed Reality (MR) devices.

Passengers can interact and navigate the RAVE IFE system and watch all on-board IFE content using their Extended Reality device of choice. In an industry first, Safran Passenger Innovations is now able to offer a truly immersive cinematic IFE experience in all cabin classes.

This innovative solution is developed on the RAVE Wireless platform and will be available on aircraft with RAVE Seat Centric IFE as well as aircraft with only RAVE Wireless IFE, allowing airlines to offer a differentiated passenger experience across the board on all fleet types.

Safran Passenger Innovations is updating its user interfaces to accommodate the seamless navigation with many XR devices, allowing passengers to control IFE functions using the native interface of their device.

Ben Asmar, Safran Passenger Innovations’ Vice President of Products and Strategy says “At Safran Passenger Innovations, we are always excited to be able to embrace new technologies and integrate them as a part of the overall entertainment and engagement experience, giving passengers the ultimate choice about how they interact with IFE on board, whether through the seat back screen or spatially through an XR headset.”
