(PRESS RELEASE) STUTTGART, 19-Mar-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — The non-profit Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) has recognized MAHLE Group for its outstanding achievements in environmental and climate protection by awarding an “A” rating in the “Climate Protection” category and designating the company as a “Leadership” performer for the first time. This honor underscores MAHLE’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and its impressive progress in reducing CO₂ emissions across its operations. In fact, since the 2019 baseline, MAHLE has achieved a remarkable 47% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions from plant energy consumption and a 17% decrease in Scope 3 emissions from its upstream chain and product usage.

“Our excellent rating is clear evidence of the successful implementation of our sustainability strategy,” stated Georg Dietz, Member of the Management Board responsible for sustainability, health, occupational safety, and environmental management. He emphasized that this achievement sends a strong signal to customers, business partners, investors, and employees alike, affirming MAHLE’s leadership in addressing climate risks and opportunities.

Further bolstering its climate strategy, MAHLE has been actively integrating the latest technologies, streamlining internal processes to enhance energy efficiency, embracing renewable energy sources, and transitioning from fossil fuels to electricity. Kathrin Apel, Director Corporate Sustainability and Occupational Health, Safety and Environment, added that the Group also collaborates closely with its suppliers to further reduce emissions, emphasizing an increasing focus on incorporating recycled and bio-based materials in product design.

MAHLE’s climate protection measures are embedded as a strategic corporate goal, driven not only by a sense of obligation to the targets of the Paris Climate Agreement but also by a desire to capitalize on the opportunity to innovate and lead within the industry. The company aims to achieve climate neutrality for its plants by 2040 and has set an ambitious target of cutting emissions from purchased goods and services, as well as product usage (Scope 3), by 28% by 2030. External audits of its energy and emissions data, conducted since 2021, further validate the Group’s transparency and commitment to these goals.
