MAHLE Launches E-CARE Fluid Service Unit for Efficient Cooling System Maintenance in All Vehicle Types

(IN BRIEF) MAHLE has introduced the E-CARE Fluid, an advanced service unit designed for the automated emptying and filling of cooling systems in vehicles of all types. The device supports the maintenance of internal combustion, hybrid, and electric vehicles, offering automated coolant changes and leak testing. It includes a database for vehicle-specific coolant information and provides an intuitive, step-by-step guide for mechanics. With each device, MAHLE offers a range of adapters to cover various vehicle types and a remote support function for workshops.

(PRESS RELEASE) STUTTGART, 8-May-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — MAHLE is launching its latest service unit, the E-CARE Fluid, in Europe, offering a groundbreaking solution for maintaining cooling systems in vehicles of all types. This innovative device fully automates the emptying and filling of cooling circuits, particularly in the event of high-voltage battery repairs or coolant circuit component replacements. E-CARE Fluid also includes an integrated vacuum and pressure test to detect leaks within the cooling system. Philipp Grosse Kleimann, Head of MAHLE Lifecycle and Mobility, emphasized the significance of the new service device, saying, “With the E-CARE Fluid, we are preparing our customers for the service demands of electric vehicles.”

The E-CARE Fluid is designed to work with all relevant cooling media and is compatible with internal combustion engines, hybrid, and battery-electric vehicles. The device ensures efficient and clean coolant changes, which are essential for maintaining the performance and efficiency of the cooling circuit, especially in electric and hybrid vehicles where battery temperature control is crucial. “Regular coolant changes are vital to maintaining the efficiency of the cooling system, especially for electric and hybrid vehicles, as the traction battery is sensitive to temperature fluctuations,” explained Felix-Matthias Walter, Director of Service Solutions at MAHLE Lifecycle and Mobility.

The E-CARE Fluid device features two tanks: one collects drained coolant for potential reuse, while the other mixes and refills the circuit with coolant according to the manufacturer’s specifications. The unit also includes a flushing function to remove contaminants from the system. Technicians can generate a final service report directly through the device and submit it to the customer.

To ensure smooth and efficient maintenance, the E-CARE Fluid uses an intuitive 7-inch touch screen to guide mechanics through each step of the process. An integrated database provides detailed information on the correct coolant type, vehicle-specific test pressures, adapters, and system components. This database is updated continuously through a wireless connection. In addition to fully automatic operation, the device offers a manual mode for hybrid and internal combustion engine vehicles.

Each E-CARE Fluid unit comes with a case containing approximately 20 different adapters, covering all major vehicle types and drive systems. The device’s touch screen indicates the necessary adapter for each specific vehicle. Additionally, MAHLE service technicians can remotely assist workshops with maintenance via a direct connection.
