(PRESS RELEASE) VIENNA, 24-Mar-2025 — /EuropaWire/ —  Kapsch Group (VIE: KTCG), a leader in innovative transportation solutions, announces that Kapsch TrafficCom has been awarded a USD 1.4 million contract to upgrade the Advanced Traffic Management Software (ATMS) system, based on its proven DYNAC platform, in the Tetsuo Harano Tunnel and along the H3 Freeway in Oahu, Hawaii. This critical infrastructure upgrade will enhance safety and operational efficiency on a major corridor that connects Pearl Harbor Joint Base with Marine Corps Base Hawaii at Kaneohe.

The project entails a comprehensive enhancement of the current ATMS system, merging Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) functionalities through the robust Kapsch DYNAC platform. Known for its reliability over the past 40 years, the DYNAC system currently manages more than 650 million crossings annually in the U.S. Northeast, and now it will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and safe flow of traffic in Hawaii.

Building on a 30-year successful partnership with the Hawaii Department of Transportation, Kapsch TrafficCom is committed to boosting the performance, reliability, and scalability of Hawaii’s transportation network. “We are honored to extend our longstanding relationship and to continue contributing to the safety and efficiency of Hawaii’s vital routes through this significant ATMS upgrade,” said JB Kendrick, President of Kapsch TrafficCom North America.

Work on the project began on October 1, 2024, with an anticipated completion date of September 30, 2025. As part of the upgrade, Kapsch TrafficCom will modernize both the physical and software infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems. This includes upgrading critical message signs, controllers, and other components that manage traffic flow. Additionally, comprehensive training will be provided to local system operators to guarantee a smooth transition and optimal long-term operation. The installation of new physical components is scheduled for the summer of 2025.

This initiative reaffirms Kapsch TrafficCom’s steadfast commitment to enhancing critical transportation infrastructure and public safety across North America.
