IndiGo extends partnership with Thales for fleet-wide repair services and AvioBook digital cockpit solution

(IN BRIEF) Thales and IndiGo have signed an 11-year strategic contract to support the airline’s growing Airbus A320 and A32X fleet with advanced maintenance and repair solutions. The deal includes Thales’s Avionics-By-The-Hour and Repair-By-The-Hour programmes, designed to improve fleet availability and reduce downtime, with repairs to be handled at Thales’s new MRO facility in Gurugram. IndiGo has also renewed a five-year agreement with AvioBook to continue deploying its DGCA-approved Electronic Flight Bag solution across the airline’s entire fleet, streamlining operations, reducing paper use, and supporting more than 2,000 flights daily. Both companies highlighted that the agreement strengthens operational efficiency and safety while supporting India’s expanding aviation industry.

(PRESS RELEASE) MEUDON, France, 17-Sep-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Thales has entered into a major long-term agreement with IndiGo, India’s largest airline, covering the maintenance and repair of its current Airbus A320 fleet as well as its future order of more than 800 A32X aircraft. The 11-year contract will ensure IndiGo benefits from Thales’s advanced ‘Avionics-By-The-Hour’ (ABTH) and ‘Repair-By-The-Hour’ (RBTH) programmes, providing efficient spares management and reliable component repair solutions to maximise fleet availability and reduce operational disruptions.

Central to this partnership, repairs will be carried out at Thales’s newly launched Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) facility in Gurugram, India, strategically located near Delhi airport. This state-of-the-art centre is equipped with advanced systems designed to accelerate repair processes, ensure compliance with stringent aviation standards, and meet the rapidly increasing demand for avionics services. Thales’s specialised team of engineers will provide the expertise required to maintain complex avionics systems while upholding the highest levels of safety and reliability.

Alongside this agreement, IndiGo has also extended its partnership with AvioBook, a Thales company, through a new five-year contract. The AvioBook Flight Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) solution, already authorised by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for paperless cockpit operations, will continue to support the entire IndiGo fleet across more than 650,000 flights annually. The digital solution has enabled significant reductions in paper use while streamlining operational workflows, contributing both to environmental goals and operational efficiency for the airline’s over 2,000 daily flights.

Parichay Datta, Senior Vice President of Engineering at IndiGo, expressed confidence in the collaboration: “We are pleased to partner with Thales, a global leader in avionics, to further strengthen our maintenance and repair capabilities. As IndiGo continues to grow its fleet and expand its scale of operations, this partnership will help us ensure a seamless and safe travel experience for our customers while maintaining operational reliability.”

Thomas Got, Vice President of Aviation Global Services at Thales, added: “This long-term collaboration with IndiGo demonstrates our commitment to delivering best-in-class avionics support. With our new MRO facility in India, Thales can provide fast and dependable service, reinforced by our global expertise, to address the evolving needs of the Indian aviation sector.”
