FedEx Launches Five Weekly Transcontinental Flights Through Türkiye to Support Faster Customs Clearance and Global Commerce

(IN BRIEF) FedEx has launched five new weekly Boeing 777 freighter flights connecting Asia Pacific and the United States via Türkiye, strengthening global connectivity and improving trade flows through Istanbul. The new services increase capacity from Guangzhou and Shanghai while delivering a major advantage for Turkish importers through earlier customs documentation and faster clearance on arrival. Leveraging the new FedEx global air transit facility at Istanbul Airport, the expansion enhances reliability, flexibility and speed for businesses trading across Asia, Europe and North America, supporting Türkiye’s growing role in global supply chains.

(PRESS RELEASE) ISTANBUL, 20-Oct-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Federal Express Corporation has expanded its global air network with the launch of five new weekly flights linking Asia Pacific and the United States via Türkiye, strengthening connectivity and reinforcing the country’s growing role as a key trade hub between Asia, Europe and North America. The new services leverage the recently inaugurated FedEx global air transit facility at Istanbul Airport, enhancing routing flexibility and supporting faster, more reliable international trade flows.

All five flights are operated using Boeing 777 freighters, significantly increasing daily parcel and freight capacity within the FedEx network. Three of the new flights originate from the FedEx Asia Pacific hub at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, while the remaining two depart from the FedEx Shanghai International Express and Cargo Facility at Shanghai Pudong International Airport. This additional capacity provides businesses in Türkiye with improved access to imports from Asia and more efficient export connections to Europe and the United States.

A key benefit of the expanded service is faster customs clearance for importers in Türkiye. With next-day arrival of B777 freighters from China, FedEx is now able to provide customs documentation one day earlier than before. This enables goods to be cleared on the day of arrival rather than requiring an additional waiting period, helping businesses reduce delays and improve supply chain efficiency.

The combination of increased connectivity and accelerated clearance is particularly valuable in highly competitive industries where timing is critical to maintaining production schedules and meeting customer demand. By optimising its air network and customs processes, FedEx aims to help Turkish businesses remain agile and competitive within global supply chains.

The expansion reflects FedEx’s ongoing investment in Türkiye as a strategic logistics gateway. By routing additional transcontinental flights through Istanbul, the company enhances its ability to support key trade lanes while offering customers greater choice, capacity and reliability across international markets.
