With nearly 35 years of corporate, retail and business banking experience, Thundercliffe brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to SAS.

In his role, Thundercliffe will cover the UK & Ireland and Nordics regions, with a specific focus on UK banking. He will also advise on risks facing the public sector. As a former Group Chief Risk Officer at Virgin Money, Thundercliffe led the effective governance and oversight of significant risks and opportunities across the organization, including strategic, operational, financial, analytics, and regulatory risks.

Thundercliffe is recognized globally as a leading expert in banking risk management and is particularly well known in the UK as a keynote speaker at leading industry events. He was awarded the UK Outstanding Chief Risk Officer of the Year at the 2018 UK Credit Awards, as well as the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2022 UK Credit Awards for his contribution to the UK banking industry.
