Essilor receives the Employee Shareholders Association Chairman Award

Charenton (France), 26-11-2012 — / — Essilor today received the Employee Shareholders Association Chairman Award at the Actionaria exhibition in France, for its Valoptec association. This award, made by the Fédération Française des Associations d’Actionnaires Salariés et Anciens Salariés (French Federation of Associations of Employee and Former Employee
Shareholders), recognises the exemplary approach adopted by Essilor, which, through its Valoptec association, places particular emphasis on employee share ownership. Essilor employees currently hold more than 8% of share capital and 14% of voting rights.

“Employee share ownership is essential to the success of our business. It is both the basis of Essilor’s culture and a source of motivation and loyalty for employees around the world. Strong, long-term employee shareholding is a major strength which it is important to protect, to the mutual benefit of the company and its employees,” noted Paul du Saillant, Chief Operating
Officer of Essilor International.

Valoptec was created in 1972, at the same time as Essilor came into being through the merger of Essel and Silor. The Association reflects both the founding principles of the Group, which have endured for more than 160 years, and the long-term commitment of its employees. The approach to governance is unique. Three members of the Association sit on the Group’s Board of Directors and are fully involved in all important decisions. In addition, each year, every
member of the Association takes part in a vote of confidence in the company’s strategy and human resources and labour relations policies.

“I would like to dedicate this prize to all the employees and retired employees of Essilor who own shares in the company, for their loyalty to our internal share ownership scheme,” added Aicha Mokdahi, Chairman of the Valoptec Association.

The Jury for the prize consists of the Chairmen of Employee Shareholder Associations.
