DEUTZ Drives Sustainable Construction with Innovative Engine Ecosystem at bauma 2025

(IN BRIEF) At bauma 2025, DEUTZ is making a strong comeback by exhibiting its broad product ecosystem and system solutions that cater to the construction sector’s need for climate-friendly and sustainable power solutions. The company’s display includes engines powered by diesel, hydrogen, and HVO biofuels, along with hybrid and fully electric options, battery components, gensets, and digital service innovations. CEO Dr. Sebastian C. Schulte emphasized the shift towards climate neutrality in the construction industry and the importance of providing a balanced mix of electric and combustion technologies. In addition, Markus Villinger has been named head of DEUTZ Classic, tasked with driving the traditional diesel engine segment forward. Highlighted products include the efficient DEUTZ TCD 3.9/4.0 engine for off-highway applications and the groundbreaking hydrogen-powered DEUTZ TCG 7.8 H2 excavator engine, which is the first of its kind to achieve EU Stage V certification. DEUTZ also underscores its global service support through initiatives like the Xchange program and the Fusion Hub telemetry platform, both designed to improve cost efficiency and operational productivity across fleets.

(PRESS RELEASE) COLOGNE/MUNICH, 7-Apr-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — At bauma 2025 in Munich, DEUTZ returns to the construction machinery trade fair after a six-year absence that included a pandemic-induced pause, underscoring the crucial role the construction sector plays for the company. Under the banner “We ensure the world keeps moving,” DEUTZ is set to exhibit its extensive product ecosystem that features an array of innovative engine technologies and system solutions designed to support a more sustainable future for the construction industry.

DEUTZ is showcasing a comprehensive lineup of power solutions ranging from diesel engines to those capable of operating on hydrogen and biofuels such as HVO, as well as hybrids and fully electric drives. The display also includes battery components, gensets, and digital service innovations. Dr. Sebastian C. Schulte, CEO of DEUTZ AG, stated, “The construction sector is shifting towards greater climate neutrality. Our mission is to support this transformation by providing the optimal mix of power solutions tailored to our customers’ specific needs. Whether through electric drives or advanced combustion engines running on hydrogen or modern biofuels, we are committed to decarbonization while acknowledging that the internal combustion engine will remain indispensable in heavy-duty applications for years to come.” Notably, all DEUTZ engines are approved to run on HVO.

In addition, DEUTZ has appointed Markus Villinger as the new head of its traditional diesel engine segment, DEUTZ Classic, effective April 1, 2025. With more than 30 years of industry experience—including his most recent role as Executive Director Sales & Aftersales, Product Planning & Strategy Powertrain at Daimler Truck—Villinger is charged with overseeing product development, technical customer engagement, product management, and sales. “DEUTZ’s illustrious history and global brand, coupled with our Dual+ strategy, have paved the way for sustained success. I am excited to continue ensuring that our engines keep the world moving,” Villinger commented.

Among the innovations on display is the DEUTZ TCD 3.9/4.0, a highly efficient internal combustion engine engineered for the off-highway sector. With a power output ranging from 75 to 129.4 kW and a modular design offering extensive application flexibility, this engine, which entered full production last week at the Cologne-Porz facility, is set to deliver both performance and reliability under demanding conditions.

Furthermore, DEUTZ will present its hydrogen-powered series production engine, the DEUTZ TCG 7.8 H2—Europe’s first EU Stage V certified hydrogen combustion engine. This display model will be installed in a robust excavator, illustrating its practical potential in heavy machinery applications.

DEUTZ’s stand also highlights its broad service network of over 1,000 global partners, the well-established Xchange program offering reconditioned components and engines for cost-effective, extended equipment usage, and the Fusion Hub telemetry platform. This manufacturer-neutral online tool provides real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance capabilities, enabling operators to enhance fleet productivity while reducing operating costs.
