(PRESS RELEASE) HELSINKI, 20-Feb-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Cargotec Corporation (HEL: CGCBV), a Finnish company that makes cargo-handling machinery for ships, ports, terminals and local distribution, announces that its subsidiary Kalmar has secured a significant order to provide PSA Italy with eight Kalmar Eco reachstackers for use at their Genova Pra’ and SECH container terminals. The order was recorded in Cargotec’s Q1 2023 order intake and the machines are scheduled to be delivered in Q2 2023.

PSA Italy, a subsidiary of PSA International, manages two container terminals in the Port of Genoa, PSA Genova Pra’ and PSA SECH, as well as one in the Port of Venice. The company handles approximately two million containers annually and employs around 1,000 individuals.

The Kalmar Eco reachstackers being supplied to PSA Italy come with a fuel savings guarantee, which ensures predictable fuel consumption based on the cargo handling drive cycle, enhancing financial predictability. The machines will also feature Kalmar Insight, a performance management tool that leverages data to provide impactful insights, as well as a range of supplementary safety features such as a fire-suppression system.

The Kalmar Eco reachstacker, which uses a smaller engine than traditional alternatives, lowers fuel consumption and emissions while maintaining productivity. Furthermore, it offers an improved overall driving experience, with less cabin noise and smoother acceleration.

Roberto Ferrari, CEO of PSA Italy, is excited about the new reachstackers: “We are constantly optimising our equipment fleet to improve fuel efficiency and reduce carbon emissions as part of our Group’s ambitious sustainability targets, and to keep the greenhouse gas reduction commitments that we have made to the City of Genoa and its institutions. The new reachstackers are another step in the right direction.”

Matteo Prefumo, Deputy Solution Sales Manager, Kalmar Italy: “We are delighted to have this opportunity to strengthen our collaboration with PSA Italy and support them with reducing emissions at their Genoa terminals. Eco reachstackers are helping to reduce CO2 emissions all over the world, proving that it is possible to improve productivity without increasing fuel consumption.”
