(IN BRIEF) BLUETTI will debut the partially bio-based Elite 100 V2 portable power station at CES 2026, featuring a housing made from Covestro’s Bayblend® RE polycarbonate attributed with 25 percent bio-based raw materials. The material is expected to reduce the housing’s CO₂ footprint by more than 20 percent while meeting demanding requirements for durability, safety, and long-term performance. Designed to match the lifespan of BLUETTI’s high-cycle LiFePO4 batteries, the new model demonstrates how advanced materials can enable sustainable, reliable, and visually refined portable energy solutions for global markets.

(PRESS RELEASE) LEVERKUSEN, 6-Jan-2026 — /EuropaWire/ —Global portable power brand BLUETTI is set to introduce a more sustainable version of its Elite 100 portable power station at CES 2026, marking a significant step toward lower-carbon energy storage products. The new Elite 100 V2 features a housing made from Covestro’s Bayblend® RE polycarbonate, which is attributed with 25 percent bio-based raw materials through certified mass balance accounting.

According to lifecycle assessment calculations, the use of Bayblend® RE can reduce the battery housing’s carbon dioxide footprint by more than 20 percent compared with conventional polycarbonate. The launch highlights how advanced material solutions can help combine durability, safety, and sustainability in the rapidly expanding market for portable energy systems.

Portable power stations have evolved from emergency backup devices into essential equipment for outdoor recreation, mobile living, and off-grid applications. For BLUETTI, a key design challenge is ensuring that the housing of its products lasts as long as the internal components. The Elite 100 V2 is built around a LiFePO4 battery designed for more than 4,000 charging cycles, equivalent to roughly ten years of use, requiring a housing material that resists aging, brittleness, and mechanical wear while remaining stable under extreme temperatures and prolonged UV exposure.

Safety is another critical requirement, as the housing must tolerate operational heat without increasing fire risk. At the same time, BLUETTI is focused on reducing the environmental footprint of its products, making material selection a central element of product development.

Bayblend® polycarbonate meets these combined demands by offering high impact resistance even at low temperatures and compliance with UL 94 V-0 flame-retardant standards. The Bayblend® RE grade used in the Elite 100 V2 incorporates renewable raw materials derived from bio-waste and biological residues via mass balance accounting, while maintaining the performance characteristics required for demanding outdoor applications. The material is part of Covestro’s Circular Intelligence portfolio, which identifies products attributed with at least 25 percent alternative raw materials.

Lily Wang, Global President of Engineering Plastics at Covestro, said the collaboration demonstrates how innovative materials can support the transition toward more sustainable portable energy solutions. She noted that Covestro’s engineering plastics are designed to deliver high technical performance while helping customers reduce environmental impact and advance circular economy principles.

Allen Huang, Vice President of BLUETTI, added that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to sustainability. He emphasized that the use of bio-circular materials enhances product durability and safety while lowering environmental impact, enabling BLUETTI to offer reliable and visually appealing energy solutions aligned with evolving consumer expectations.

In addition to performance and sustainability benefits, Bayblend® enables refined surface textures and a wide range of color options through Covestro’s advanced Color, Material and Finish capabilities. This design flexibility allows BLUETTI to respond to changing consumer preferences without compromising technical standards.

The partially bio-based Elite 100 V2 will be officially unveiled on January 7 at BLUETTI’s booth (#9837) in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center during CES 2026 and will be available worldwide.
