BAE Systems and Kongsberg Forge New Air-Domain Partnership Following Maritime MoU

(IN BRIEF) Following a May 2025 MoU focused on Maritime domain cooperation—including vessel support, strike missiles, surveillance systems, and frigate deliveries—BAE Systems and Kongsberg signed a secondary MoU in July 2025 to extend their partnership into the Air domain. This new pact targets collaboration on training programs, uncrewed air vehicles, advanced materials, mission-support services, and joint R&T projects. The dual agreements underscore the long-standing UK-Norway defence alliance and aim to generate integrated solutions that strengthen NATO and allied capabilities.

(PRESS RELEASE) FARNBOROUGH, 3-Aug-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — BAE Systems and Kongsberg, two of Europe’s foremost defence contractors, have expanded their collaboration into the Air domain, building on the Maritime-focused Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) they signed in May 2025. That initial agreement explored deeper cooperation on projects such as the Vanguard vessel system, through-life support for Norway’s forthcoming frigates should the UK’s Type 26 design be selected, strike missiles, maritime surveillance and targeting, and ship-system deliveries for both nations’ frigates.

In July 2025, the partners added a complementary MoU to identify and develop synergies across several Air-domain areas. Key focus sectors include advanced training solutions, uncrewed air systems, specialty materials, mission-support capabilities, and collaborative research and technology initiatives.
